The Kota Tinggi Museum is a museum located in Kota Tinggi, Johor, Malaysia. Initially known as the Kota Tinggi History Centre, construction began in 1997. It is housed in a building covering an area of 6,480 square meters, with construction starting on April 14, 1997. The building was completed on June 11, 1999, and handed over to the Department of Museums and Antiquities. On February 27, 2001, the Department of Museums and Antiquities handed over the Kota Tinggi Museum to the State Government of Johor, and it was managed by the Johor Heritage Foundation. The museum was opened for visitation on August 30, 2002, even though the exhibition space on the upper floor was not yet complete. It was officially inaugurated by D.Y.A.M. Tunku Ibrahim Ismail Ibni Sultan Iskandar, the Tunku Mahkota of Johor (now the Sultan of Johor) on February 29, 2004, coinciding with the Johor Royal Voyage Program.

The Kota Tinggi Museum highlights the history and historical remains of the administration of the Old Johor Sultanate. The Johor River Valley became the continuation of the Malay Sultanate after the fall of Malacca in 1511. Taking into account the year 1529, when the Johor government center began in Pekan Tua (Pasir Raja), followed by Johor Lama in 1540, it means that the Malay civilization has been established in Kota Tinggi for more than 400 years. It was in the Johor River Valley where Tun Sri Lanang, a famous Malay historian, was born and wrote the Sejarah Melayu, an important work of Malay historiography.

The Kota Tinggi Museum (initially named the Kota Tinggi History Centre) began construction in 1997. The construction was supervised by the Kota Tinggi Public Works Department (JKR). On June 11, 1999, the building was completed and handed over to the Department of Museums and Antiquities. On February 27, 2001, the Department of Museums and Antiquities handed the Kota Tinggi Museum over to the State Government of Johor, which has since been managed by the Johor Heritage Foundation. The museum was opened for visitation on August 30, 2002, although the exhibition on the upper floor was still incomplete. It was officially inaugurated by D.Y.A.M. Tunku Ibrahim Ismail Ibni Sultan Iskandar, the Tunku Mahkota of Johor (now the Sultan of Johor) on February 29, 2004, in conjunction with the Johor Royal Voyage Program.
