Semua pulau yang terletak di perairan Johor dilindungi di bawah pengurusan Taman Laut Sultan Iskandar. Kepulauan Seribuat terletak di perairan pantai Mersing, terdiri daripada 41 pulau yang dibahagikan kepada lima gugusan utama; iaitu Pulau Tinggi, Pulau Sibu, Pulau Besar, Pulau Aur dan Pulau Pemanggil.<\/p>\n<p>Dalam perjalanan bot yang singkat dari tanah besar, kebanyakan pulau besar dihuni oleh komuniti nelayan Melayu tradisional tempatan, yang telah lama berada di sini sejak zaman purba ketika lanun ganas merayau di lautan. Lanun telah lama dihapuskan dan pulau-pulau kini mempunyai pelbagai rumah tumpangan dan resort yang memenuhi keperluan pelancong tempatan dan asing.<\/p>\n<p>Bersantai di tepi pantai, berenang di air jernih dan melakukan sukan air adalah berharga, di bawah deruan ombak terhampar terumbu karang yang sihat dan cantik dengan pelbagai bentuk hidupan menunggu untuk diterokai, manakala trip memancing di laut dalam adalah idaman pemancing yang berani<\/p>\n<p>Secara ekologi, pulau-pulau ini mempunyai gabungan flora dan fauna yang unik termasuk spesies asal, endemik dan jarang ditemui yang terancam di peringkat global \u2013 baik di darat mahupun di bawah air. Sebagai sebahagian daripada Taman Geologi Mersing, pulau-pulau ini juga mempunyai warisan geologi yang unik.
